“Drop the brand and do what it means to be human: help another person.”

I love this advice! I find that personal branding is one of those things where effort isn’t linked with reward. Since self-promotion without altruism has all the competitive, hollow elements that you point out, it’s not worth it to overdo branding and pushing content.

I find in trying to create content for the web, when I focus on helping others then I get the best results. And then that makes my writing so that effort is linked with reward.

I don’t think I would be having that experience trying to promote myself in Instagram all day, though I’m sure some people balance helping others with promoting their personal brand. 🙂
