I like the recommended daily amounts. I’m in the process of quitting caffeine since 500mg a day (5 mugs of coffee, 8 cups or 2/3rd of a pot) was causing me to have symptoms like the stages of amphetamine abuse. (I was in stage 6.)
I also contribute my chronic caffeine abuse to my development of panic attacks and contributing to ADHD-related depression.
Nevertheless, I still drink 5 mugs of decaf a day — for the health benefits:
