I think people will be moving away en masse from unpaid platforms like LinkedIn and Quora unless those sites start revenue sharing.

The tricky thing is that Medium’s $5/mo paywall generates a ton more money (probably 10x) than conventional advertising, without any of the variable costs of print newspapers or magazines. So Medium is quickly dominating as an online writing platform because online advertising is such a poor model for revenue generation. Cheers!
