Given that a fully remote workforce means access to thousands of candidates instead of dozens while saving several employees' salaries in terms of office space, the reality is that you're comparing one $200,000 a year developer plus office space to two $150,000 a year developers working remotely.

Yeah, your one staff developer might beat the two senior developers, but it just really depends on the quality of the candidates -- which will be greatly improved by selectively hiring from a pool of 1,000+ applicants instead of 100+.
