One nice way to get some easy backlinks on Medium is by including links to your original article when you respond to responses on the site.

Since each response is a new story, it is a valid backlink! (While it may not count for a lot, you’ll have full control over the anchor text you use.)

Since it’s polite to respond to responses anyway, I like to get a little SEO benefit from it.
