I totally agree about the problems with the embedded Gists.

In my more recent articles, I’ve started to use code snapshots and linking to the gist instead. Do you prefer that style?

As far as the distracting photos, they are there to relax you and take your mind off stress so you can learn better. All articles in Coding at Dawn include plenty of relaxing photography. I generally include fewer images in my work in other publications.
