IDK where you found your work-life balance job, but every job I’ve ever had has had plenty (dare I say most?) of the employees avoiding work the majority of the time during the workday. It would seem “cheating" on your job with a side hustle is indicative of a strong work ethic, instead of the slacker culture best embodied by The Office.

There’s even a name for this phenomenon — it’s called The Gervais Principle. Anyone who’s working a “Loser" job (in the economic sense, as they make 100x less than C-suite employees) actually has a complete disincentive to work at all. And because of that, group dynamics (“office politics”) push out any employees who are working harder than everybody else.
