If you're writing book reports (aka "definitive guides") with research, then you just need to focus more on SEO with a tool like Answer The Public.
You only need to be "clever" enough to actually type in a "People also ask..." question from Google as your headline (and refuse to ever use a "cute" or "clever" headline) -- because you're writing informative articles that are educational to answer people's questions.
I did a talk about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_BhUFhx8i4 Slides: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1k76qWUaOuiqLqt4yvK0H_poTtITmu1N6JKyNb2Qq4mo/edit#slide=id.ge965474a9_3_74
If you're *not* writing that way, but your writing still feels like a book report, then maybe try some more self-experimentation ( see https://writingcooperative.com/9-article-frameworks-i-use-to-repeatedly-get-published-in-fast-company-and-entrepreneur-4ebb0a009b6f )
Or, you could try Tom's course, which I am not an affiliate of but have taken & do recommend.
