It’s all going to shake out that the slackers get replaced by independent workers and become the new long-term unemployed, while currently-underemployed people like myself who thrive working from home find new opportunities. I’ve heard from a friend who’s a manager that he feels that he can’t fire anybody “until we’re back in the office” — but for companies that never go back to the office, it’s only a matter of time until the fat is cut.
