Nice article, thanks for putting this together!

$250 is a lot more than you'll typically make for technical content on Medium, but really good technical articles on Medium will make $150-$1500+ (often with an additional $20-$50+/month after the initial burst).

$250 is a lot less than I charge clients for similar technical content, though that is often ghost-written (instead of a "guest post" that may have SEO or portfolio benefits for me). That kind of content is $500 for short articles up to $4000 for definitive guides, though I have a portfolio and include SEO & digital marketing consulting as part of my writing.

If your choices are Dev.to, your personal blog, or one of these programs, I'd absolutely choose to get paid!

Here are two more guest authorship programs:

* Smashing Magazine has one: https://www.smashingmagazine.com/2016/08/behind-the-scenes-what-it-takes-to-publish-a-smashing-article

* Sanity just launched one: https://www.sanity.io/guest-authorship
