Oof. I left a career in a physical therapy after being verbally abused by two consecutive rageful "boy's club" bosses. The second I immediately reported to HR, and the boss simply terminated me. There was no recourse.

Thanks for sharing your story, Jennifer. The verbal abuse in my case was simply pressure to illegally misreport my hours so that I wouldn't get paid overtime. I wouldn't play along, so I got canned -- and pushed out of a profession that I spent years training for.
