Shouldn't this be the opposite? If the vice president is making a million in salary, you're giving them $750,000 to leave. If the individual contributor is making $100,000 in salary, you're giving them $40,000 to leave -- and they probably need the money *a lot* more. This is classic CEO pay thinking at it's very worst.
