Thanks Ashleigh! It's a great change from client work, which works like this:

1) No money while working

2) A big payment when done

3) No money afterwards

Medium works more like this:

1) No money when done

2) Most stories make no money

3) Some stories make money forever

It's also been amazing to see how much freelancing work and interviews I've gotten from a combination of my Medium blog, LinkedIn profile, and AngelList profile.

Whereas my previous experience with job boards like Monster and Indeed landed me exactly 0 contacts, I've had several interviews for full-time positions and multiple freelancing jobs originate from having a personal brand online.
