The correct question to ask is "why are your muscles tight" not "what to do about tight muscles." The latter is obvious: massage and stretching reduce hypertonicity and myofascial trigger point activity. The former is also obvious: your body is failing to stabilize correctly. If your quads are "tight" your body is increasing the neuromuscular tone in that muscle. Why? Likely due to faulty stabilization, and stabilization starts with respiration.
