This is a controversial point of view because there are 1) product-led tech companies and 2) sales-led tech companies.
If you run through the FAANG-like list in your head... Slack, Airbnb, Uber, Lyft, Shopify, Spotify... every single one of those companies we use because the product is great. So the product-led approach is clearly superior.
That said, once the product is built, stable, and well-liked, you could probably get away with laying off the majority of the tech resources who built it.
But pretending that account executives are important, essential employees and the devs who are building the UX are expendable cost centers is a great way to burn out in VC hell.
