This is why I wonder about typical software interviews. Is it more useful to know how to solve a problem in pure JavaScript or to know how to use a reusable framework or interface? Do I demonstrate more talent to a JavaScript team by deeply understanding bind and event handlers or React Hooks? Aren’t documentation and testing as important as coding?
