This seems to be true in all industries, but I definitely agree that in software engineering that saying words like love and passion are a must when interviewing.

Also, given how insular and piecemeal working on a huge project must be, I find it really interesting that the only work experience that seems to count is having had the title of software engineer at a previous job.
