Typing speed is a clear prerequisite for being a great developer. It's the step 1 of my how I would learn to code if I could learn to code all over again in my book Career Programming.

The Dvorak joke is funny, but the "latest and greatest" is Colemak, which has far fewer changes from Qwerty. I've still never been able to convince myself that the learning curve will be worth it when I already type 100wpm, though.
